Water Damage, Water Damage Restoration

Happy New Year From Restoration Local, Your Water Damage Leader!

Happy New Year and welcome to 2012!  All of us at Restoration Local. hope you have a prosperous year full of joy and much success.  Of course there are those who insist on telling us that the world is supposed to end this year, so I guess we’ll have to wait and see what the coming months bring, right?

Of course being who we are, we would be remiss if we didn’t remind our friends that a good severe cases of water damage can end up feeling like the end of the world if you aren’t properly prepared.  As we try to constantly remind folks, even a little water can cause a lot of damage.  If you don’t believe me, take a long hard look at your living room.  Now try to imagine just an inch of water in said living room.  Just an inch, mind you.  See how many different things could be affected by just that amount?  Now imagine a more serious problem such as a burst pipe or a flash flood.

Water can be the most destructive element that can affect your home, even more so than fire in many cases.  Much like fire, water causes damage to whatever it touches, but unlike fire, it continues to cause damage even in the aftermath until the affected area is properly dried out and everything cleaned up.

Also, unlike fire, smaller cases of water damage may occur and go undiscovered for an extended period of time.  By the time the homeowner is aware that there is a leak or spill, considerable damage has already been done.

If you make New Year’s resolutions, then one of them needs to be making a more proactive, concerted effort to locate water damage or possible sources of water damage within your home and repairing them before they have the opportunity to become fruitful and multiply.  You should check your attic, basement, and crawlspaces for any signs of water being present where it shouldn’t be.  Likewise, look for stains, discoloration, or swelling of sheetrock, ceilings, carpeting, or flooring, as these are clear indications that you have a problem.

Once the problem is evident, do not ignore it.  Water damage issues will not get better on their own.  They will only get worse, and the worse they become, the higher your repair bill on the project will be.  In addition, water damage sets the stage for all kinds of subsequent problems such as mold, which can appear in as little as 48 hours following a water damage disaster and bring with it any number of health issues that may affect you and your family.

Obviously, water damage can be a serious problem in your home. If you have water damage, call Restoration Local 24/7 at 1-888-443-3110 for a free estimate!
