Water Damaged Ceilings
Water damaged ceilings cause headaches for many homeowners. Repairing a water damaged ceiling is a headache in and of itself. Water stains are nearly impossible to remove from a ceiling. Cleaning and/or painting over the water damage just does not work. The water damaged area needs to be cut out and replaced – then made to look like the rest of the ceiling if it’s that kind of ceiling. You know, the swirly paint and all that. (My ceiling paint technical term library is lacking!)
But, before you go through the hassle of repairing your ceiling, you need to find and repair the water damage. If it’s not obvious, this part can be tricky. It could be a leaky faucet somewhere upstairs, a leaky shower pipe, rainwater entering the home, pipes running between the floor and the ceiling carrying water to/from upstairs plumbing.
What if you can’t find the source? Never fear, that’s where we come in. Our water damage restoration specialists can find the source of the problem and fix it! Don’t allow a water damaged ceiling go unfixed as it can create bigger problems the longer it is left alone. If left alone, mold will likely start to grow, and the ceiling’s structural damage can spread. This creates a health and safety issue.
While fixing the problems of a ceiling stain can be very difficult it is important to keep the above tips in mind. Always think through the situation before tearing open your ceiling, and be sure to identify what is causing the water damage. In almost all cases it is often best to call in a water restoration company to identify the problem and fix the situation as quickly as possible.
